Gifts in Kind

Occasionally after a disaster there is a need for material items in addition to funds.  The donation of such items is referred to as Gifts in Kind (GIK).  Clothing, blankets, School Pal Paks, and Crisis Care Kits (CCK) are all considered to be Gifts in Kind.

When such a need occurs this information, including specific items or types of items needed, will be included in a press release issued by NCM.  NCM also maintains a warehouse network that accepts CCK and SPP donations at all times.

When packing and sending GIK it is imperative specific guidelines are followed. For instructions on how to label, sort and pack GIK, visit the NCMI Gifts in Kind page.

You may also download specific information on School Pal Paks (PDF) and Crisis Care Kits (PDF).  The boxes go through customs in the U.S and the country where they are sent. If a box has items other than what it says on the box, the whole container can be confiscated and we will be fined. Therefore, it is essential that each box is clearly marked and a complete inventory of the contents is included.
