A major earthquake hit Haiti January 12, 2010. Roughly a third of the population of the country has been affected, with extreme shortages in food, water, shelter, fuel, and medical care. Local Nazarenes continue to distribute aid as they move forward with rebuilding.
ECFA provides accreditation to leading Christian nonprofit organizations that faithfully demonstrate compliance with established standards for financial accountability, fund-raising and board governance.
With over 115,000 Haitian Nazarenes, responders worked diligently to provide relief and comfort to the Haitian people immediately following the earthquake. Now, NCM is looking toward the future as the rebuilding process continues.
NCM provides aid to people affected by natural disasters through local churches within their communities. Based on information gathered from the local community, the local NCM coordinators identify needs and a plan for relief is put into action.

Local Nazarene leaders were trained to give basics in trauma counseling.
Safe Place Camps have been set up that allow children to process grief and trauma through play therapy.
As immediate relief transitioned into meeting long term needs, rebuilding began. Rebuilding is an extension of relief when churches, schools, homes and communities physically get rebuilt. It is also when holistic sustainable community development begins. Rebuilding and community development fosters transformation for a better future.
