Christmas Project 2005: Child Development Centers 9/26/05

In developing countries, one in four children lives in abject poverty, in families with an income of less than $1 a day.

Out of 100 children born in 2000, 30 suffered from malnutrition in their first five years of life, 26 were not immunized against the basic childhood diseases, 19 lacked access to safe drinking water, 40 to adequate sanitation, and 17 will never go to school.

Nearly 11 million children each year - about 30,000 children a day - die before reaching their fifth birthday, mostly from preventable causes.

Children are the most vulnerable when a family suffers in poverty. This Christmas, consider giving the gift of hope to one of these children. NCM's Child Development Centers provide nutritious meals, educational opportunities, and vocational training to children around the world. You can either make a donation to these centers, or sponsor one of the children enrolled in them.

If you choose to sponsor your generosity through sponsoring a child will allow you to develop a relationship with a very special child. Your gift of sponsorship can open up a whole new world for that child that they would not have known otherwise.

Visit our website to begin sponsoring a child today. You can also call us toll free at 1-877-626-4145. Check out our Christmas Project link on-line for a printable resource and on-line giving information at www.ncm.org.

To make a donation to Child Development Centers, mark your check "CS Christmas Project ACS1024" and mail to the General Treasurer, 6401 The Paseo, Kansas City, MO 64131. In Canada, checks should be made payable and sent to the Church of the Nazarene Canada, 20 Regan Road, Unit 9, Brampton, Ontario L7A 1C3. Immediate donations may also be made online at www.ncm.org.
