Workshops for Compassionate Leaders and Disaster Coordinators
This project wants to develop and conduct biblically based training workshops for pastors, lay leaders, and community leaders, reaching out to their respective communities in practical and relevant ways. Social transformation happens when local leadership identifies with the community and needs are met. Dedicated individuals waiting to be trained will learn to network, organize, structure, and enrich their ministries to those around them.
As many African countries are constantly hit with disasters like hunger and war, we need to provide local leaders and church congregations with first response skills and crisis outreach training, as well as equip them to undertake preventive and mitigating steps. This moves communities from chaotic crisis reactions to an organized response, and reaching a position of preparedness for the future.
With your help we hope to conduct 5 one-week workshops, involving 250 church and community leaders from at least 20 African countries over a one-year period. These workshops will supply these leaders with manuals for procedures and organizational flow charts to understand roles and responsibilities. It will also teach them to evaluate their situation, undertake need assessments and formulate appropriate actions for themselves and possible partners in their mission.
Each workshop would have a budget of $10,000 USD, totaling $50,000 USD, and provide transportation, accommodation and facilities, food and materials for the participants. Invest in making a difference in a community in Africa!
