CIS Prison Ministry Project
Field: Commonwealth of Independent States (former Soviet Union)
Location: Ukraine, Russia
Need: $3,000.00 to support 200 people in purchasing clothing, snack items, and toiletry articles
$15.00 will give support to one inmate to purchase some used clothing and toiletries.
Objective: To minister the Word of God to people that have been jailed.
Several of the men and women who have been going through the rehabilitation programs that the Church of the Nazarene have in the CIS through the Rehabilitation Centers are ex-convicts that now have been called to go back to jails and preach the Good News to those there. The prison system in the CIS is filled with people that have been lingering in the system for years without hope. The prisons lack the basic human needs including adequate clothing, toiletries, etc. All funds raised will be used not only to provide Bibles to prisoners, but also to provide basic items for the prisoners’ personal use.
PROGRESS REPORT:
Over the year, a number of inmates from 4 prisons in Ukraine and 1woman’s prison in Russia have been recipients of spiritual and material support from volunteers visiting and ministering to them. With small donations, NCM CIS has been able to collaborate with those volunteers in providing support for the basic needs of inmates.
