Any Program/Project...

1) Walk-a-thon
- Organize a walk-a-thon, bike-a-thon, or any a-thon to raise support and awareness for child sponsorship.
2) Benefit Concert
- Organize a benefit concert which features a local musician or artist.
3) Cultural Night
- Choose a country or area of the world and then make food from that country, put up a map, wear clothing, play music, and teach phrases and customs from that culture.
4) Silent Auction
- Create a silent auction with items donated by church members and then send proceeds to child sponsorship or other program.
5) Donate Services
- Host an event where people donate a service (such as washing cars, cleaning houses, doing massage therapy) and then give the proceeds to a program or project.

Child Sponsorship...

1) “Holiday Tree”
2) Hang up child profiles of children who need sponsors as ornaments on a tree in the sanctuary, youth room, or children’s room.
3) Sponsor testimonies
- These can be shared during a service, presentation, or published in a bulletin.
4) Children’s activities
- Child sponsorship can easily be incorporated into any children’s event.
5) Global Dinner
- Host a “Global Dinner” by preparing food from another country and then sharing about the living conditions of children in that country. For recipes click here and choose a continent and then choose a country.

30 Hour Famine...

1) Poverty Meal
- Plan a dinner that teaches your congregation about world hunger.
2) Malawi Video/Testimonies
- The proceeds from this year’s Nazarene Famine are going to villagers in northern Malawi. We sent 5 students to Malawi to meet and spend time with the people there. Show the video to your congregation, small group, or youth. Find it at http://www.ncm.org/cs/news.aspx.
3) Share a Story
- Find stories to share at http://www.30hourfamine.org/portal/story/index.html.
4) Famine Sunday
- Host a “Famine Sunday” at your church which makes the connection between the Famine and Child Sponsorship. For more details visit http://www.30hourfamine.org/portal/pages/nazarene/Naz_FS.html.
5) TRIBE Game
- Do one of the activities from the TRIBE game with your youth group. Download instructions at http://www.30hourfamine.org/portal/pages/leader/Tribe.html. Note: This game is meant to be played during the Famine event, but you can use one or more of the activities to get people excited about participating.

Social Justice/Global Awareness...

1) Visit a soup kitchen in your neighborhood.
2) Plan a food or clothing drive.
3) Mentor a newly immigrated family.
4) Educate your congregation on fair trade gift options.
5) Organize a sweatshop simulation.
6) Do the online AIDS Experience.

8) Participate in a $2 dinner challenge. Most families around the world live on less than $2 a day. Challenge the families in your congregation to make a meal for $2 or less.
